Novak Djokovic is the 2014 Wimbledon mens singles champion.
My heart goes out to Roger Federer who fought with all his might to force a deciding set after being 2-5 down and saving a match point in the 4th set.
Both players were at the top of their game with excellent serving and some awesome quality tennis.
This was a classic battle with both players determined to not give in till the very end.
First set won by Roger in a tie break.
Djokovic breaks Roger (only the second time in this tournament he is broken) to grab the second set 6-4.
Third set again goes the distance where Novak edges it out in a tie break.
Fourth set, Novak draws first blood, breaks Roger. Roger breaks back immediately. Back on serve. Novak breaks again! It's 5-2, Federer staring down defeat. The 7 time champion then rallies and breaks Djokovic not once but twice, having saved match point at 4-5 on his own serve with a blistering ace, and a remarkable comeback by the seven time champion to win the fourth set 7-5!
With the momentum clearly with RF, Nole needs a medical time out. A couple of tough service holds later, Roger is the first to crack, and Novak Djokovic wins it 6-4 and with it the 2014 Gentlemens Singles Championship at the All England Club.
What is inspiring is the way the almost 33-year old Federer played against the now world number 1 player.
The sadness in his eyes was palpable as he sat on his chair waiting for the prize distribution ceremony.
A well deserved victory for Novak Djokovic who had lost the last three major championship finals he contested in.
